Day 3 of the Christmas Cruise and Pirate Night!
If you are not watching and following and even subscribing to Jones Family Travels on youtube, you are missing out on some great travel videos. The videos feature the Jones Children and all the activities on the cruises, in the parks or just daily activities such as going to the beach. If you love Disney or Universal, these are videos not to miss. They just finished a video on the new Star Wars remodel and I will post that in a future blog.
I like this video as it shows Castaway Cay which is the island that Disney owns and each cruise makes a stop there. It is a favorite of anyone who has ever been on a Disney cruise and definitely not something to miss. The Jones children rode bikes around the island and have completed a run around the island so lots of activity and fun to be had by all.
I’ve added a couple Pirate related Disney toys that you might want to add to the Christmas list of fun things from Disney. Check out the shop for more items.
Every girl dreams of becoming a Disney princess once in their lives. This is because girls tend to look for amazing characters that they would look up to. Even if these characters are not real, many young girls continue to consider these princesses as their ‘idols’ when they grow up. So which one are you going to be for Halloween. I am always surprised when the adults accompanying their treaters are in costume. Many older girls, young mothers and even grandmothers dress in princess costumes. Grandmother’s are most often the good fairy from Cinderella.
Whether you still believe in fairy tales or not, it is still a good thing to dream of living a princess’ life once in a while. This will stimulate imagination and will also help you to escape from stressful life in the real world. Is there a better way to escape than to participate in the neighborhood treats. I spend Halloween sitting on my front porch with bags and bags of goodies to distribute to the neighborhood children. I really enjoy the costumes and those treaters who remember to say Thanks.
I may have to dress up this year as more and more I am taking on the look of the evil witch with the apple in Snow White. Of course, I would rather be Snow White. Snow White is for beautiful girls who somehow suffer for their physical assets, Snow White is the Disney Princess that you would choose if those were your characteristics. She is another Disney princess favorite because Snow White is the most beautiful princesses ever created. In fact, it is because of her beauty that her evil step mother wanted to kill her. But then, Snow White was able to be triumphant in the end when she got the help of the Seven Dwarves. For her beauty alone, many children still consider Snow White as their favorite princess. There is always at least one Snow White who visits my front porch on Halloween.
And then there is Cinderella. Cinderella was a mistreated girl who never ceased to dream of happy endings. If you dream of a prince and happy endings, this may the costume you would want to choose. Cinderella is considered as the most favorite Disney princesses of all time because she epitomizes a strong yet kind-hearted woman. Her story appeals so much to many girls because the story Cinderella tells that despite the hardships in life, one can still find true love and happiness. In fact, Cinderella became a standard to those who are dreaming of “happily ever after”. Who can ever forget the glass shoes, the fairy god mother and the evil step sisters? Indeed, this princess will continue to win the hearts of many girls in the next generations to come. Hopefully there will be a few Cinderella’s this year, but I hope they don’t arrive in a large pumpkin coach.
Belle also shows up on Halloween and brings such joy even though she is considered the “nerdy” princess. She loves to read a lot of books and and appends a lot of time day dreaming. Belle is also very pretty but is often commended for her courage to see beyond what they eyes let her see. She also proved that physical beauty is not everything when she fell in love with cursed Beast. I don’t see as many Belle’s at Halloween but even a few add such fun, especially when they are accompanied by the Beast.
The last princess I always look for is Aurora. Aurora is the princess who is concerned with her looks and very focused on the things she likes to do. In reality, princess Aurora has one of the most interesting lives there is. When a witch cast a spell on her, princess Aurora was forced to leave the castle and her parents and changed her name to Briar Rose to be able to live. But then again, the curse still got the best of her and was lulled into a deep sleep until the love of her life came to rescue her with a kiss. There is never anyone sleeping on my porch or kissing for that matter so perhaps Aurora is not the best choice for Halloween.
So many other princess costumes, the Frog and the Princess, Frozen, and Little Mermaid. I am looking forward to another fun year of costumes and candy. If you have pictures of your neighborhood princesses, I would love to see them posted here.
I think I will quit for now and go shop for some Princess costumes.
Children love to watch TV. For them, what they see on the TV monitor is one of their ultimate forms of entertainment. However, not all programs are suited for the development of children. This is the reason why many experts suggest that parents should carefully choose what their kids are watching. This is to ensure that they are getting something valuable from it like what Disney movies give. I also let them watch Muppets movies as the music is great and they sing and dance along with the movie.
Since it was established, Walt Disney Company or simply called ‘Disney’ has always been a choice for parents and teachers when it comes to providing entertainment to young children. This is because Disney has made its mark in creating movies that are meant to instill positive values among children. Many of you probably remember the Mickey Mouse Club. Well you will remember if you are in my age group. I still sing the song to the grandkids.
The power of movies
In this day and age where kids are preoccupied by modern gadgets, it is very important for parents to make and effort to ensure that their children will learn something valuable. For parents and teachers who want to teach children about good values, they should be more creative in finding ways how to do it.
Experts agree that one of the best ways that you can teach a child something is when you do it his or her way. Since you will be dealing with young kids, there will be resistance if you would plainly tell him or her about what is wrong and what is right. My grandchildren especially like acting out stories.
These days, many parents and teachers don’t realize the power of movies in their kids. If you want kids to learn so many things, you should allow them to watch Disney movies and shows like A Dog with a Blog. Some of the TV shows are not as value oriented and are more suited to teens than young children. My daughter-in-law still enjoys all the Disney movies and shows. It is good that some of us never grow up and still can enjoy these shows and movies.
Here are some of the reasons why parents and teachers should let young kinds watch Disney movies:
1. It fosters imagination. All Disney movies are made to make its viewers imagine things that are beyond the usual. One good movie that would foster kids’ imagination is “Aladdin” who is a young lad who fell in love with a princess named Jasmine. However, they can never be married because the princess should only marry a prince. But everything turned out well when a genie came into the picture and granted Aladdin three wishes. It’s a good movie to makes kids imagine because it features entertaining characters such as the flying carpet.
2. It fuels the drive to dream and go after that dream. For children, dreaming is innate. But as they grow older, they tend to forget how to hold on to their dreams. To instill the value of having a dream and how to go after it, you can let them watch Disney movies about the power of dreaming such as “Up.” Released in 2009, the movie tells a story of Carl Fredricksen who had enough courage to go after his dream despite old age and lack of resources.
3. It instills that value of kindness. Although kindness is something innate, children sometimes don’t develop it because of so many factors such as proper guidance from the parents and influence of other kids. To help him or her develop this attitude, you can let him watch Disney movies that tell about genuine kindness such as “Mary Poppins” which is a story of a nanny who uses magic to transform ordinary lives into something extraordinary through kindness.
I include videos of the Jones Family Travels because they demonstrate all the fun you can have at the Disney Parks, Universal, Sea World and on the Disney Cruises. If you haven’t subscribed to their youtube videos, I highly recommend you subscribe and follow them in their travels.
Top 5 Reasons To Love Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Halloween seems a long way off but not at Disney World. Preparation is going on the Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party and it opens on September 15. It lasts through November 1 and is great fun. If you have never been there, take the opportunity to visit. You will have the opportunity to see glowing pumpkins, grinning ghosts and all of the characters is the most incredible costumes. The minute you want into the park you will smell the aroma of those wonderful pumpkin muffins which are made in the Main Street Bakery.
And for Candy, it is a must stop at the Candy Palace on Main Street. They have these great Mickey apples, Dirt ‘n’ Worms apples and cookies topped with Gummi Worms. I love the pumpkin seed brittle and think I will try to make it at home this year. I always save the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkins but this is certainly a new use for them.
As it gets closer to the event I will share other activities that are in preparation. In the meantime, start looking for your costumes.
The Minion Movie was an incredible hit and the grandchildren loved it. They went to the movie at Universal Studios which made it an even better event than the regular Theatre. While at Universal they purchased a couple of Minion Blind Packages and had fun reviewing the contents.
It was great fun watching them open the packets and enjoy putting together the surprise. I think they will want to buy many, many more in the future and these are just a few of what is available. Check the shop on this blog for more selections in the Minion category.
Have you seen the new bridge at Downtown Disney. It really makes it so much easier to get from one side of downtown to the other. Downtown Disney is making so many changes and each week when I visit it seems to have added something else. I don’t like the parking as well as the old parking within walking distance of the Disney store, however, given the crowds, I understand why it was necessary. I didn’t often visit the far end of downtown and now I have to walk through it to get to the Lego store, or the Disney store. I find so many things that are new to me that have been there for a long time.
They are planning to close Disney Quest which has always been fun for the grand kids. It was a perk that you had with the annual Disney Pass. I hope they replace that perk with another one so we don’t lose something on our annual passes. They increase in price every year so one would expect the value to increase as well.
Speaking of downtown Disney, I am a real fan of the Lego Store. It always has crowds of little people and parents out front building something with the Lego’s that are provided on the tables out front. Also if there is anything you might want in the Lego line, you can find it here. Also separate pieces on a great wall of color in the back of the store. If you have a child that loves Lego’s, they have lost a few pieces at one time or another. Rather than throw away the entire project, you can buy the pieces that have been lost.
So the product I am proposing for you today is a combination of Lego and Disney. Take a look at this great Lego for your favorite child, grandchild, or birthday party for a child you love.
These are some great selections in a nice price range. Hope you find one you like and click on the picture to order.
I made the trip over to Hollywood studios today and picked up the Chewy posters. Because I had three annual passes I was able to pick up three posters. It was great to be able to get three and I was able to pick them up right inside the entry. Most people were told to go over to Toy Story to pick up the posters but I had walked in from the parking lot so looked pretty beat. When I asked at the information desk, I think they felt sorry for me as I looked pretty worn and pointed me to three posters. I did show them my annual passes so I should have a couple happy grandchildren when they come back to Orlando.
Do you have a Dad who loves Star Wars? How about a shirt for father’s day?
We always love Star Wars week-end so in preparation we are ordering many of the molds. We had some fun with the latest addition as once it was frozen, we gave the frozen ice to the dog Copper, who thought they were balls for his play time. We really enjoyed watching him try to move them around the house. This is a picture of the end product from our mold My granddaughter loved this and had fun filling the molds and putting them in the freezer. Also thought we could use them for bath bombs and chocolate. Awfully big chunks of chocolate but that didn’t seem to be a problem for her.
Be sure to check out the molds in the shop as we are adding new Disney ones every week. We use them for cakes, chocolate, ice, soap and bath bombs so far. As we open them, we will share them with you.
Please comment and let us know what you would like to see in the shop and what you would like us to shop for in Orlando. I am often at Downtown Disney, any of the parks and of course, the Disney outlet store. If you are looking for something special, I love shopping and will try to find it for you.
Hope you get to visit for Star Wars!!
